Man, 19, arrested in Brandywine Hundred shooting

BRANDYWINE HUNDRED, DELAWARE (12/21/2015) A 19-year-old man was arrested in the shooting of an 18-year-old woman at the Naamans Village Apartments early today, New Castle County police said.

The shooting happened about 1:45 a.m. in the 700 block of Montclair Drive.

The victim was taken by private vehicle to Wilmington Hospital and later transferred to Christiana Hospital, where she was undergoing surgery.

She was standing inside the apartment building when Scott Sullivan, of the 1200 block of Winstead Road in Brandywine Hundred, pointed a handgun at her from outside discharged a round, striking her in the torso, Cpl. Tracey Duffy said.

“A thorough investigation conducted by the Criminal Investigations Unit revealed Sullivan accidently discharged the weapon,” Duffy said.

Sullivvan was taken into custody at an apartment in the complex and later helped investigators locate the weapon, Duffy said.

He was awaiting arraignment on charges of first-degree assault and possession of a deadly weapon during commission of a felony.
