
ELLENDALE, DELAWARE (12/12/2015) A 62-year-old woman died Friday from injuries in a two-vehicle crash north of Ellendale earlier in the week, Delaware State Police said.
The accident happened about 1:45 p.m. Wednesday at Fleatown and North Old State roads.
The woman killed was identified as Cora L. Lofland, 62, of Ellendale.
Police said Lofland was driving a 1993 Mercury Villager minivan westbound on Fleatown Road and failed to stop at the stop sign, pulling into the path of a northbound 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse that had no stop sign.
The car struck the driver’s side of the Villager, pushing it into a pole on the northwest side of the intersection. The Eclipse came to rest in grass on the northwest side.
Lofland was taken by ambulance to Bayhealth Milford Memorial Hospital, where she later died.
The driver of the Eclipse, Angel Gabriel Marquez Torres, 39, of Harrington, was taken to the hospital by ambulance,, treated for injuries and released, police said.
Police said alcohol was not a factor in the crash and no charges will be filed.
