MIDDLETOWN, DELAWARE (11/24/2015) A public workshop is planned by the Delaware Department of Transportation to explain proposed Route 299 improvements, which include adding new lanes to the road.

The workshop will be from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Dec. 2 at Brick Mill Elementary School, 378 Brick Mill Road.

The work planned affects Route 299, also known as Middletown Odessa Road and East Main Street, from Route 1 to Catherine Street. The project includes widening to two lanes in each direction from Route 1 to Cleaver Farm Road, with a raised median.

A two-way center turn lane will be added between Cleaver Farm Road and Catherine Street, and a multi-use path will be added on the south side along the entire length.

DelDOT says interested persons are invited to express their views in writing, giving reasons for support of or in opposition. Comments will be received during the workshop or can be mailed to DelDOT Community Relations, P.O. Box 778, Dover, DE 19903.
