WILMINGTON, DELAWARE (11/12/2015) Fire broke out in a recycling building just south of Wilmington early today, according to reports from the scene.

The fire at 1000 S. Heald St. (U.S. 13) was reported about 2:30 a.m., drawing multiple fire companies, including Good Will, Wilmington Manor and Christiana.

The fire in bundles of recycling materials at Gold Medal Environmental produced heavy smoke in the area.

No injuries were reported.

The site, formerly Blue River Resources, which was acquired by Gold Medal earlier this year, contains a 65,000-square-foot building on 7 acres between the city line and Interstate 495.

The business sorts materials collected from homes and businesses in New Castle County.

The Delaware state Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the blaze.
