ELSMERE, DELAWARE (10/17/2015) Two men have been arrested in connection with several recent armed robberies in the Elsmere and New Castle area, including three at the same store on Kirkwood Highway, the Delaware State Police said Friday.

Elsmere police also charged one of the men in an attempted robbery, and their investigation was vital to the apprehension of the two men, state police said.

Jeffrey Holdsworth, 23, and Steven Linton, 32, were arrested at a home at 508 Junction St. in Elsmere on Wednesday.

Holdsworth was charged with four counts of first-degree robbery, three of wearing a disguise and two of conspiracy in the robberies of First State Market at 2501 Kirkwood Highway west of Elsmere on Oct. 2, 6 and 13, and of a BP gas station in the New Castle area on Oct. 2. He was being held at Young Correctional Institution in Wilmington in lieu of $120,000 cash bail.

Linton was charged in the First State Market robbery on Oct. 13. He was being held at Young in lieu of $68,000 cash bail.

Police said Holdsworth used a handgun in each of the robberies and escaped with cash. No one was injured.

Holdsworth also was charged with attempted robbery by Elsmere police. Details of that incident were not available.
