29-year-old man struck by car in Wilmington, in critical condition

WILMINGTON, DELAWARE (10/3/2015) A 29-year-old man is in critical condition after being struck by a car while walking on the Washington Street bridge over the Brandywine, according to Wilmington police.

The driver of the car, a 60-year-old woman, stopped at the scene.

Police said the injured man was wearing dark clothing and was crossing in an area not designated as a crosswalk.

New Castle County paramedics treated him at the scene and he was taken by ambulance to Christiana Hospital.

Police are investigating the accident, which happened about 10:15 p.m, and asked anyone with information to  call Master Cpl. James Peiffer at 302-571-4415.
