MILFORD, DELAWARE (8/24/2015) A major backup point for beach traffic will be eliminated next month when the traffic light at Thompsonville Road north of Milford is permanently removed as part of ongoing construction for a new overpass.

Removal of the light comes as a section of Thompsonville Road is closed to allow for construction, the Delaware Department of Transportation said today.

Starting at 7 a.m. Sept. 14, Thompsonville Road will be closed between Route 1 and Reynolds Road. Local access to properties will be maintained, DelDOT said.

The closure will allow for bridge approach and embankment work for the new overpass that will cross over Route 1 for a new section of Thompsonville Road being built to connect to the intersection of Church Hill Road and Tub Mill Pond Road.
