Motorcyclist injured in U.S. 13 crash is identified

MINQUADALE, DELAWARE (8/22/2015) A 38-year-old woman was in critical but stable condition after a motorcycle and pickup truck collided on U.S. 13 (North DuPont Highway) early today, authorities said.

The accident happened about 12:15 a.m. at the Memorial Drive intersection, with severe damage to the motorcycle, said Sgt. Michael McColley of New Castle County paramedics.

The woman driving the 1999 Kawasaki motorcycle, identified by police as Roshanda S. Baker, suffered multiple fractures of both arms and a possible pelvic fracture, McColley said. She treated at the scene by paramedics and taken by ambulance to Christiana Hospital.

Police described her injuries as not life-threatening.

She was wearing an approved helmet, police said.

Michael S. Kreller, 20, of Wilmington, was operating a 1998 Mazda B-20 pickup when he crossed northbound U.S. 13 toward Memorial Drive, driving directly into the path of Baker, police said.

The bike struck the passenger side of the truck, ejecting Baker into the roadway.

Kreller brought his truck to a controlled stop and was not injured, police said.

The U.S. 13 northbound lanes were closed about 30 minutes as police investigated.

Minquadale and Wilmington Manor fire companies also responded.
