Pike Creek fire ruled arson

PIKE CREEK, DELAWARE (8/20/2015) A fire that heavily damaged a storage building and a vehicle inside in Pike Creek was intentionally set, the Delaware state Fire Marshal’s Office ruled today.

The blaze was reported about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 3500 block of Three Little Bakers
Blvd., site of a former golf course.

Someone intentionally ignited materials inside the vehicle parked inside the building, said Michael Chionchio, assistant state fire marshal.

The building was engulfed in flames when Mill Creek firefighters arrived.

Damage was estimated at $15,000, Chionchio said. No injuries were reported.
