Wilmington man dies in hit-run accident

Wilmington police logoWILMINGTON, DELAWARE (8/19/2015) A 47-year-old Wilmington man died early today after he was struck by a vehicle that fled, city police said.

The accident happened just before 2:30 a.m. as the man was crossing in the middle of the 100 block of W. 28th St., police said.

When police arrived the man was in the street and unresponsive, and officers started CPR.

New Castle County paramedics continued treatment when they arrived and took the man to Christiana Hospital, where he was pronounced dead from injuries suffered in the accident.

Police are trying to identify the striking vehicle, which was traveling west on 28th.

The vehicle was described as a two-door gray or silver compact car.
