OCEAN VIEW, DELAWARE (8/16/2015) One person died early today when fire broke out in a house that had no smoke alarms, the Delaware state Fire Marshal’s Office says.
The blaze was reported shortly after 2 a.m. in the 100 block of Woodland Ave., said Michael G. Chionchio, assistant state fire marshal.
Flames were engulfing the two-story home when Millville Fire Company arrived. The victim’s body was found inside the home and an autopsy is planned.
Investigators remain on the scene trying to determine how the fire started, Chionchio said.
He said damage to the home was estimated at $25,000.
