Bear SUV, sedan crash sends 5 to hospital

BEAR, DELAWARE (8/1/2015) Four people were taken to Christiana Hospital after an SUV and a small car collided in Bear, authorities said.

The accident happened about 3:25 p.m. Friday at Old Baltimore Pike and Old Cooch’s Bridge Road, said Cpl. Abigail E. Haas of New Castle County paramedics.

Haas provided these details:

• The driver of a four-door sedan was trapped in the wreckage until freed by Christiana firefighters. The 30-year-old man was treated by paramedics for possible internal, chest and lower extremity injuries and was in serious condition.

• A 27-year-old man driving the SUV was treated for possible upper extremity injury. He was in stable condition.

• A 28-year-old woman who was a passenger in the SUV was treated by paramedics for possible internal injures and was in stable condition.

• A 3-year-old girl in the SUV was taken to the hospital for evaluation and was in stable condition.

• A fifth person who was a passenger in the sedan was taken by ambulance to the hospital but Haas didn’t have details on their condition.

The crash is being investigated by Delaware State Police.
