2 arrested in Harrington birthday party shootings

HARRINGTON, DELAWARE (7/23/2015) Two downstate men have been arrested in connection with the shooting of six people at a birthday party on East Street in Harrington last month, city police said today.

The victims’ wounds on June 28 were not life-threatening and all have been released from hospitals, Lt. Earl K. Brode said.

Elijah Desir, 19, of Seaford Meadow Apartments in Seaford, turned himself in to Harrington police today and Laquan Johnson, 17, of the 100 block of Fleming St. in Harrington, was arrested at his home Tuesday.

Desir was charged with six counts of first-degree assasult and one of possession of a firearm during commission of a felony. He was being held at Sussex Correctional Institution near Georgetown in lieu of $140,000 cash bond.

Johnson was charged with possess, purchase, own or control a firearm by a person prohibited, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, reckless endangering and inciting a riot.

 

Brode said police are still investigating the shootings and asked anyone with information to call investigators at 302-398-4493.
