Newark toll booth on I-95 robbed twice

NEWARK, DELAWARE (7/13/2015) The Newark toll booth on Interstate 95 was robbed twice over the weekend, Delaware State Police said today.

The first robbery happened about 8:30 p.m. Friday in the northbound lanes, when a masked man stopped a vehicle, got out and reached into the booth, removing cash before fleeing north in the vehicle. A 48-year-old man was working in the booth at the time but was not injured.

The second incident happened about 9 p.m. Sunday, also in the northbound lanes by a masked male who stopped a vehicle, got out and opened the toll booth door to remove cash before fleeing north in the vehicle. A 52-year-old woman working in the booth was not injured.

The first robber was described as a black male, 23-27 years old, 5-feet-7 with thin build. He was wearing a dark long-sleeve shirt and dark pants.

The second robber was described as a black male, 5-feet-7 and about 150 pounds. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black pants..
