Man struck on Lancaster Pike; driver flees

WILMINGTON, DELAWARE (6/24/2015) A 66-year-old man suffered multiple traumatic injuries when he was struck by a vehicle that then fled on Lancaster Pike near Wilmington, according to Delaware State Police.

The incident happened at 8:10 p.m. Tuesday at Court Drive, near the Greenview at Chestnut Run apartments (formerly Lancaster Court).

Police said Donald Groce, of Wilmington, was crossing the westbound lanes when he fell down and was struck by the vehicle, which was possibly black or grey color.

Groce was taken by ambulance to Christiana Hospital in stable condition, police said.

Lancaster Pike was closed about an hour as police investigated.
