Road rage in Rehoboth: 2 arrested, 1 for 5th DUI

REHOBOTH BEACH, DELAWARE (6/11/2015) Two men were arrested – one of them on a fifth DUI charge – for fighting in the roadway in a road rage incident, Rehoboth Beach police reported today.

Police said Lavaughn D. Jones, 49, of Dagsboro, was driving under the influence of alcohol and had four children – ages 8, 9, 10 and 10 – in his vehicle at the time.

In addition to the fifth DUI charge, Jones faces four counts of endangering the welfare of a child while driving under the influence and driving while suspended or revoked.

Police said the other driver, Shawn Elligson, 37, of Rehoboth Beach, was the aggressor in the road rage incident. He was charged with disorderly conduct and offensive touching.

Jones was being held at Sussex Correctional Institution near Georgetown in lieu of $9,100 secured bond.

Elligson was released on $200 unsecured bond pending a later preliminary hearing.

The incident happened about 4 p.m. Sunday in the 100 block of Rehoboth Avenue.
