Milford teen charged in two robberies

Milford PDMILFORD, DELAWARE (6/5/2015) A 17-year-old Lincoln boy has been arrested in connection with two robberies, including one where a 52-year-old man was seriously injured when struck in the head with a bottle, Milford police reported today.

The boy, charged with assault, robbery,  conspiracy and related counts, has been committed to the Stevenson House Detention Center in lieu of $53,000 cash bond, Detective Dwight Young said.

The teen’s arrest on May 24 came after robberies April 21 and May 21, Young said.

In the May 21 incident, a 52-year-old man and a 29-year-old man walking in the 300 block of North St. about 5:30 p.m. were assaulted by four males, including the one later arrested, Young said.

The older man was struck with the bottle before the attackers removed money from the pair’s pockets and fled on foot.

The injured man was first taken to Bayhealth Milford Memorial Hospital and then taken to another area hospital in serious condition, Young said.

In the April 21 robbery, the 17-year-old and two other males threatened to shoot a 19-year-old man in the area of Brightway Commons on North Church Street, although they did not display a weapon, Young said. The three removed items from the man’s pockets and then fled on foot.

Young said police are still investigating the two robberies.
