Bear residents fight off intruder with knife

BEAR, DELAWARE (6/3/2015) Two residents in the St. Andrews community in Bear fought off an intruder with a knife, New Castle County police reported Tuesday.

The crime – described by police as a home invasion burglary – happened about 2:30 a.m. on May 22, police said, in the first block of Paisley St.

One of the residents said he heard a knock on the door and opened it to find a man with a knife who demanded money, Officer First Class Tom Jackson said.

Jackson said the resident and a roommate were able to fight off the intruder, who fled on foot without any property.

He was described as black, about 19 years old, 6 feet tall and with thin build. The man was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants and tan boots.
