Man charged with attempted bank robbery in Milford

MILFORD, DELAWARE (6/3/2015) A 65-year-old South Carolina man was charged with trying to rob the Artisans’ Bank branch in Milford this morning, city police said.

The bank is located at 100 Aerenson Drive, off U.S. 113 (DuPont Boulevard) at Buccaneer Street.

Peter A. Harrison of Gaston was charged with attempted robbery, disorderly conduct and terroristic threatening.

Detective Dwight Young said Harrison entered the bank and demanded $100 bills from one of the employees.

Young said Harrison used profanity and made obscene gestures toward the employees before fleeing the bank without getting any money.

Milford police captured Harrison in the parking lot of a nearby Wawa store shortly after he left the bank.

Harrison also made statements to detectives about killing one of the bank employees, Young said.

Harrison was being held at Sussex Correctional Institution near Georgetown in lieu of  $6,500 secured bond.

No injuries were reported to any of the bank employees.
