Gunman robs Exxon at 13/40 split near New Castle

NEW CASTLE, DELAWARE (3/9/2015) A man armed with a handgun robbed the Exxon gas station at the U.S. 13/40 split near New Castle, state police reported today.

The crime happened shortly before noon Sunday at the business at 261 S. DuPont Highway.

The robber confronted a 23-year-old man working at the business and demanded cash. The clerk turned over money from the register and the robber fled on foot, running south on U.S. 13.

The clerk was not injured, Master Cpl. Jeffrey Hale said.

The robber was described as black, 45-55 years of age, 6’00”-6’03” tall and 185-210 pounds. He was wearing a grey hat, black jacket, blue jeans, black sweatshirt and sneakers.
