DELAWARE (3/3/2015) After a light layer of snow and sleet changes to rain tonight, the state is expected to be hit by a second storm with much deeper snow, forecasters say.

The storm Wednesday and Thursday will bring 6 to 8 inches of snow in the upper half of Delaware, according to National Weather Service predictions, with southern Delaware getting 4 to 6 inches.

The storm is due to arrive early Wednesday night as rain changes to sleet and then snow lasting into Thursday. The storm will be followed by temperatures plunging into single digits early Friday.

The weather service issued a winter storm watch from late Wednesday night until Thursday evening.

Weekend weather is expected to bring sunny skies with high temperatures around 40 degrees.
