ELSMERE, DELAWARE (2/24/2015) The bridge on Dupont Road (Route 100) north of New Road will remain closed in both directions until the end of March, DelDOT reports.
The road was closed Monday evening due to deterioration of the bridge decking on the span over the East Penn Railroad.
A contractor, Eastern Highway Specialists, will be replacing part of the bridge deck that has failed and patching other areas, according to DelDOT.
While DelDOT predicts the bridge will reopen by March 31, weather may affect the completion of the work, officials said.
Detour routes
Northbound traffic takes westbound Kirkwood Highway to northbound Route 141 to eastbound Faulkland Road (Route 34).
Southbound traffic takes westbound Faulkland Road (Route 34) to southbound Route 141 to eastbound Kirkwood Highway.
