Health insurance signup for some extended until Feb. 22

DELAWARE (2/16/2015) Delawareans who had problems signing up for health insurance by the Feb. 15 deadline are getting an extension, state officials said today.

Those who could not complete the enrollment because of HealthCare.gov technical problems or long waits while calling the national call center now have until Feb. 22 to finish their enrollment, said Jill Fredel, communications director for the Delaware Department of Health and Social Services.

The extension was announced today by the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.

Consumers can access the special enrollment period by contacting HealthCare.gov or the federal call center at 800-318-2596.

Delaware’s Marketplace Guides, agents/brokers, and other enrollment specialists also are available to provide free help, Fredel said. Go to www.ChooseHealthDE.com for a list.
