NEW CASTLE COUNTY, DELAWARE (2/14/2015) The county police force’s six K-9s will be wearing protective vests, thanks to a nonprofit organization.
The vests are being provided by Vested Interest in K9s Inc., which raised more than $11,000 through 2015 calendar sales, according to Officer First Class Tracey Duffy of New Castle County police.
The 501c (3) charity located in East Taunton, Massachusetts, was established in 2009 to provide bullet and stab protective vests and other assistance to dogs of law enforcement and related agencies throughout the United States. Each vest costs $950 and has a 5-year warranty.
The New Castle County Police Department’s K-9s are Ace, Diesel, Loki, Max, Figo, and Monty.
