WILMINGTON, DELAWARE (1/27/2015) A Glock handgun was seized by police at a vacant home in the same block where six people were shot — one fatally — in two separate shootings over the weekend, authorities reported today.

Police checking on the vacant home in the 200 block of N. Broom St. spotted several people flee from the fire escape area of the building and try to escape into an alley.

Other officers at the rear of the home spotted a 17-year-old boy clenching his sweatshirt pocket tightly and ordered him to the ground.

Police said the teen had a Glock 19 Gen 4 handgun loaded with four 9 mm rounds. He was charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon and receiving a stolen weapon. The boy was being held at the New Castle County Detention Center in lieu of $23,000 secured bail.

A 16-year-old boy was charged with possessing a small amount of marijuana and released to a parent. A 15-year-old girl was charged with criminal trespass and released to a parent.

On Sunday, three males were shot in the block and they were reported in stabloe condition.

On Friday night, a 16-year-old boy was shot to death and two other teenagers wounded in the same area.

There was no word from police on any connection between the gun found Monday and the earlier shootings.

Police have not reported any arrests in those shootings.
