PENNY HILL, DELAWARE (1/20/2015) A 29-year-old woman robbed a Wawa store this morning, then fled in a taxi but was later arrested, state police said.

The taxi driver and an acquaintance of the woman waiting in the cab were unaware of the crime, and the woman’s year-old daughter also was in the cab, police said.

The robbery happened about 3:30 a.m. at 705 Philadelphia Pike.

The robber said she was armed with a gun and demanded cash from a 19-year-old woman working at the store. The employee handed over cash from the register and the robber fled in the cab toward Wilmington.

Police later found the Yellow cab at the Wilmington train station, and the driver provided an address in the 100 block of Ashton St. where he had dropped the woman off.

At the home there, Amanda Paoletti of Wilmington was taken into custody and charged with robbery, endangering the welfare of a child, possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia.

She was being held at Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution near New Castle in lieu of $6,000 secured bail.

No one was injured in the robbery.
