NEWPORT, DELAWARE (1/20/2015) Two people were injured in a head-on crash between a car and a pickup truck near Newport, according to reports from the scene.
The accident happened about 5 p.m. near the First State Plaza shopping center when an elderly woman driving a car in the eastbound lanes crossed into the westbound lanes, colliding with the westbound pickup driven by a man in his 40s, according to initial reports.
Both drivers were treated on the scene by New Castle County paramedics and taken to Christiana Hospital in Stanton.
The road was closed in both directions between First State Boulevard and MacArthur Boulevard as state police investigated.
