UPDATE: Police identify victim

WILMINGTON, DELAWARE (1/18/2015) A man was found dead in a minivan early today of an apparent gunshot wound to the head, city police report. The death is the city’s third homicide of the year.

Police arrived in the 700 block of E. 26th St. about 12:20 a.m. and found the 20-year-old man unresponsive.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim’s name has not been released.

According to reports from the scene, the man killed was a passenger in the van and the driver was not injured.

Several bullet holes were visible in the vehicle.

Police said the homicide investigation is in its early stages and they asked anyone with information to call Detective Michael Gifford at 302-576-3620.

Wilmington reported 28 homicides in 2014, topping a record 27 set in 2010.
