DELAWARE (12/29/2014) Sirens at the Salem/Hope Creek nuclear plants in New Jersey will be tested Tuesday and the sound may be heard in Delaware, authorities said today.

The siren test only involves those at the plant on the Delaware River across from Port Penn, not the 37 others spread across a 10-mile radius, including much of northern Delaware.

Depending on weather conditions, Delaware residents may hear the sirens being tested at the plant, said Gary Laing, spokesman for the Delaware Emergency Management Agency .

The siren test is scheduled for 2 p.m. and expected to last about 3 minutes, Laing said.
