Truck crash shears pole, shuts Route 4 in Stanton; power out

STANTON, DELAWARE (12/22/2014) A truck crashed into a utility pole about 8 a.m. today, shearing the pole and knocking down wires across West Newport Pike (Route 4) and closing the road in both directions.

Delmarva Power reports more than 1,400 electric customers are without service in the area of the crash, and estimates some may not have power back on until mid-afternoon.

Emergency crews are on the scene in the 2000 block, in front of the Christiana Court apartments.

The driver of the Xfinity work truck was taken to Christiana Hospital, according to reports from the scene.

State police are investigating the crash. Minquas Fire Company responded to the scene.
