Second fire damages three trailers near Lewes

LEWES, DELAWARE (12/19/2014) Hours after one person was found dead after a travel trailer burned, another fire in the same community damaged three trailers, investigators said.

The later fire happened about 8:40 a.m. in the 29000 block of Hickory Road in the Tall Pines mobile home park southwest of Lewes.

The fire was caused by a malfunctioning electrical extension cord in a rear bedroom igniting nearby materials and was ruled accidental, according to Michael Chionchio, assistant state fire marshal.

The fire caused exposure damage to two neighboring trailers.

The owner of the trailer that burned was home at the time but no injuries were reported.

Firefighters from Lewes, Milton and Rehoboth Beach fire companies extinguished the flames.

Damage was estimated at $26,500.
