GEORGETOWN, DELAWARE (1/11/2015) Sussex County Clerk of the Peace John Brady has been hospitalized in Philadelphia with heart problems.
On his Facebook page, Brady posted the following on Saturday:
“You may have heard that I am having some heart problems. I am at UPenn Presbyterian Hospital. They are working on my treatment Plan . I Just met with head of heart failure unit here at Penn Presbyterian. I will be doing tests for the next two days. They are confident they can help me back to wellness. As I know further I will let you all know. Thank you for the prayers.”
As clerk of the peace, Brady conducts weddings and oversees the Sussex County Marriage Bureau, which issues marriage licences. A Democrat, he was elected to the post in 2012.
A graduate of the University of Richmond and Widener University School of Law, Brady has practiced with Gerry Gray Law in Georgetown since May. He earlier had his own practice in the Lewes area and was with Murray Law in Georgetown.
Brady, 55, has done volunteer legal work for several nonprofits and serves on the Delaware State Industrial Accident Board as well as the state Board of Plumbing, Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Examiners. He has served as town solicitor for Dewey Beach, Ellendale and Milton.
He previously served in two other Sussex County positions, register in chancery and recorder of deeds.
