DELAWARE (1/11/2015) Weather forecasters are calling for snow, sleet and freezing rain in northern Delaware starting early Monday and continuing until Monday night.

While the wintry mix will make for a messy commute Monday morning, less than an inch of snow and sleet accumulation is predicted in Delaware with just a trace of ice.

The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory from 1 a.m. until 10 a.m. Monday. The advisory area also includes eastern Pennsylvania, Cecil County in Maryland and nearby New Jersey.

The service says the precipitation will begin as snow and sleet before dawn, then change to freezing rain and then just rain by the end of the morning commute.

Wind Monday will be 5 mph or less and the temperature in the low to mid-30s upstate.

Kent County will have rain and sleet but little if any sleet accumulation. Only rain is forecast for Sussex County, with up to about a half inch of rain possible downstate.

Today’s skies will be sunny with a high about 33 upstate and 40 downstate. Tonight’s low will be about 31.
