1 dead in downtown Wilmington shooting

Wilmington police investigate shooting at Seventh and Market streets. (Photo: Delaware Free News)WILMINGTON, DELAWARE (1/17/2017) A 21-year-old man was fatally wounded by gunfire in downtown Wilmington early this morning, authorities said.

The shooting happened around 12:30 a.m. at Seventh and Market streets.

Police found the victim on the sidewalk in front of 2 E. Seventh St., suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

CPR was performed and he was taken to Christiana Hospital in Stanton, where he was pronounced dead.

The gunfire also shattered windows of several businesses in the vicinity.

There was no immediate information on the assailants.
