WILMINGTON, DELAWARE (8/15/2016) A 64-year-old woman was wounded by gunfire in Wilmington this morning, city police said.

The shooting happened shortly after 9 a.m. and police cordoned off the area around 606 W. Jefferson St., according to reports from the scene.

The woman, wounded in the upper leg, was taken to Christiana Hospital in Stanton in stable condition, police said.

Police said a tall black male with thin build and wearing dark clothing fled before officers arrived.
