6-year-old boy struck by car, in critical condition

NEW CASTLE, DELAWARE (5/9/2016) A 6-year-old boy was struck by a car Sunday morning in the Fairwinds neighborhood west of New Castle, authorities said.

The pedestrian accident happened about 9:30 a.m. in the 800 block of Seymour Road.

The boy suffered a head injury and was evaluated by New Castle County paramedics, then flown to Nemours/A.I. DuPont Hospital for Children in Rockland by Delaware State Police helicopter.

He was in critical but stable condition, said paramedics Cpl. David J. McKinney Jr.

New Castle County police are investigating the incident.

Christiana Fire Company also responded.
