Pit bull shot to death after attacking animal control officer

WILMINGTON, DELAWARE (12/12/2015) Two Wilmington motorcycle police officers shot one pit bull to death and wounded another that were attacking an animal control officer, according to reports from the scene this afternoon.

The officers were escorting a Santa run for the Boys and Girls Club when they spotted the dogs going after the animal control agent who had taken refuge atop a truck in the 1700 block of N. Spruce St. around noon.

As the officers tried to intercede, the dogs turned on them and multiple shots were fired.

The wounded dog ran off.
