NEWARK, DELAWARE (10/22/2015) A 52-year-old man on a motorcycle was seriously injured in a crash with a car near Newark while traffic was slowing to avoid a deer, authorities said.
The accident happened about 7:50 a.m. Wednesday at Paper Mill (Route 72) and Fox Den roads, said Cpl. Abigail E. Haas of New Castle County paramedics.
The motorcyclist was unable to stop and hit the rear of a car in front of him, Haas said.
The man on the bike was treated by paramedics for possible head, facial and lower extremity injuries before being taken by ambulance to Christiana Hospital in Stanton in serious but stable condition.
The driver of the car struck refused medical treatment, Haas said.
Delaware State Police are investigating the crash.
