OGLETOWN, DELAWARE (7/23/2018) Fire heavily damaged a home in the Birchwood Park community on Sunday, authorities said.
An 81-year-old woman was treated by paramedics for smoke inhalation after the blaze in the 700 block of Birchwood Drive, reported at 1:30 p.m., said Michael G. Chionchio, assistant state fire marshal.
Flames were shooting from inside the one-story home when Christiana Fire Company arrived, he said.
Six people were displaced by the fire. They are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
Investigators are still trying to determine how the fire started.
Damage was estimated at $100,000.
