Driver killed in Murphy Road crash is identified

FAIRFAX, DELAWARE (3/24/2018) A driver killed in a crash on Murphy Road has been identified by Delaware State Police.

The crash happened about 8:55 p.m. Friday near Thomas Road.

Police gave this account of the crash:

“A 1997 Toyota Camry operated by a 53-year-old man of Wilmington was traveling westbound on Murphy Road approaching the intersection of Thomas Road. For unknown reasons, the Camry drifted off the north edge of the roadway and struck a raised curb.   The Camry then proceeded to travel across several residential lawns and driveways before striking a large tree located in the front yard of a residence in the 200 block of Murphy Road.”

The man, identified as Mark P. McGee, was taken by ambulance to Christiana Hospital in Stantion. He was pronounced dead at 9:48 p.m.

 

Talleyville Fire Company also responded to the crash.
