Woman injured in South Heald Street crash

WILMINGTON, DELAWARE (3/15/2018) A 26-year-old woman was trapped in her car after it crashed south of Wilmington, authorities said.

The crash happened about 9 a.m. Wednesday in the 1000 block of S. Heald St.

The driver was trapped for eight minutes until extricated by firefighters, said Paramedic Senior Cpl. David J. McKinney Jr.

She was flown to Christiana Hospital in Stanton on a Delaware State Police helicopter.

Two children who were passengers in the rear seat of the car were taken to the hospital for evaluation aboard a Holloway Terrace Fire Company ambulance.

Minquadale and Wilmington Manor fire companies also responded.

The crash is under investigation by state police.
