MILFORD, DELAWARE (12/28/2017) A 14-year-old boy from Lincoln was killed Wednesday when a go-kart he was driving collided with a car near Milford, the Delaware State Police said.
The crash happened about 4:40 p.m. on Cedar Creek Road (Route 30) south of Wilkins Road.
Police said the boy was northbound on the shoulder when for unknown reasons he swerved into the path of a southbound 2009 Toyota Camry.
The impact caused the boy to be ejected into the middle of the road.
The driver of the car stopped a short distance away with the go-kart partially lodged under its bumper.
The 14-year-old boy was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have not released his hame.
The 36-year-old woman who was driving the car was wearing a seat belt and was not injured, police said.
The road was closed about three hours as police investigated.
