BEAR, DELAWARE (4/4/2017) A 55-year-old man was shot in the head early Monday after two men and a woman entered his room at a motel on U.S. 40 in Bear, the Delaware State Police said.
The incident happened about 3:35 a.m. at the Glen Motel, 1176 Pulaski Highway (U.S. 40).
Two masked men and the woman knocked on the door of the room and the 55-year-old man opened it. The two men entered while the woman held the door closed, police said.
The two intruders began to assault the 55-year-old, and one of the intruders fired a single round from a handgun.
The trio then fled in a gray or silver four-door vehicle, heading east on U.S. 40.
The victim was taken by ambulance to Christiana Hospital in Stanton and treated for injuries that police said were not life-threatening.
A 64-year-old woman who also was in the room was not injured.
The female intruder was described as white, about 20 years old, 5-feet-6 and weighing about 120 pounds. She had long blonde hair.
The two men were described as black with light complexions. Both wore black clothing. One was 5-feet-4 and the other was 5-feet-7.
