Woman treated after fire hits Hunters Crossing Apartments

NEWARK, DELAWARE (1/7/2017) A fire that broke out at the Hunters Crossing Apartments east of Newark this morning displaced about 24 people, according to reports from the scene.

The fire happened about 11 a.m. in the first block of Fairway Road.

Six apartments were affected.

A 69-year-old woman was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation, then taken by Aetna Hose, Hook & Ladder Company ambulance to Christiana Hospital in Stanton, said Paramedic First Class Yvonne T. Russell. She said the woman was in stable condition.

The fire is under investigation by the Delaware state Fire Marshal’s Office.
