Powerball $121 million jackpot ticket sold in Selbyville

DELAWARE (12/19/2016) Powerball officials report there was one winning ticket in Saturday night’s  drawing for the $121.6 million jackpot and it was sold in Delaware.

The winning numbers were 1, 8, 16, 40, 48 with a Powerball of 10. The Power Play was 2.

Delaware Lottery officials revealed this afternoon the winning ticket was sold at the Selbyville Goose Creek store, 38452 Dupont Blvd. (U.S. 113), in Selbyville.

The winning ticket holder had not yet claimed the prize, and may take the annuity option, spreading payments of the $121.6 million over 20 years, or a cash payout of $72.1 million.

The winner also has the option under state law of remaining anonymous.

Delaware Lottery Director Vernon Kirk said, “This is an incredible life-changing event, and the Delaware Lottery encourages the winner to take the time he or she needs to make the decisions regarding prize claim options, and perhaps consult with a tax accountant or an attorney.”

This was the second-highest Delaware jackpot winner on a single ticket. The highest was in 2004, when a winner of the $214.7 million jackpot took the cash option of $116.9 million.

Delaware also had a winner in two other highly advertised jackpots when ticket-holders in other states shared the top prize. One was in 2001, with a Delaware winner claiming one of four winning tickets on a $295 million annuity value. The other occurred in 2009, with a Delaware winner claiming one of two winning tickets on a $174.4 million annuity value.

There were 676,911 additional winners in the drawing receiving prizes totaling more than $6.7 million, according to the Powerball website.

The jackpot prize is reset to $40 million for the next Powerball drawing, on Wednesday.
