29-year-old woman in critical condition after crash with bus

(Photo: Delaware Free News)MILFORD CROSSROADS, DELAWARE (11/29/2016) A 29-year-old woman was in critical condition after she was trapped in the car she was driving following a collision with a small bus this morning, authorities said.

The crash happened about 10:15 a.m. on Paper Mill Road (Route 72) at Stage Road.

The woman injured was freed by firefighters from Aetna Hose, Hook & Ladder Company in about 15 minutes, said Sgt. Abigail E. Haas of New Castle County paramedics.

She was treated for head, leg and possible internal injuries, then taken by ambulance to Christiana Hospital in Stanton, Haas said.

The driver of the Millcroft nursing home bus, a 78-year-old man, was treated by paramedics for a medical emergency, then taken to Christiana Hospital in stable condition, Haas said.

The crash is under investigation by Delaware State Police.

Mill Creek Fire Company also responded.
