NEW CASTLE, DELAWARE (10/3/2016) A 24-year-old man was wounded in a shooting Sunday night, New Castle County police said this afternoon.

The shooting happened about 11:50 p.m. in the 100 block of Jillians Way in the Jillians Way community off U.S. 13 near New Castle.

The victim suffered a single gunshot wound to a lower extremity, Cpl. Tracey Duffy said.

Officers performed lifesaving measures until New Castle County paramedics arrived.

The man was taken by ambulance to Christiana Hospital in Stanton and was in stable condition, Duffy said.
