SMYRNA, DELAWARE (9/30/2016) Six people have been arrested and 747 bags of powder heroin seized in a yearlong investigation of drug sales, Smyrna police said Thursday.
The police special tactics unit raided a home in the first block of N. Fairfield Drive about 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Their search found the powder heroin, weighing 11.2 grams, 1.1 grams of brown tar heroin, 21.1 grams of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, two handguns, ammunition and more than $1,000 in cash, police said. One of the guns had been taken in a 2014 burglary in Delaware.
Police said they also seized a vehicle being used to transport and sell heroin.
Richard Butcher, 39, of Smyrna, was charged with possession of a firearm during commission of a felony; possess, purchase, own or control a firearm if previously convicted of two violent felonies on separate occasions; possess, purchase, own or control a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited prior violent crime or felony; receiving a stolen firearm; possession of a controlled substance in a tier 5 quantity; manufacture, deliver, or possesses with intent to manufacture, deliver a controlled substance; possession of drug paraphernalia non-marijuana related; possession of drug paraphernalia marijuana related; and possess/consume marijuana personal use quantity 21 or older. He was being held at Vaughn Correctional Center near Smyrna in lieu of $163,202 cash bond.
Jessica Elvey, 26, of Smyrna, was charged with possession of a firearm during commission of a felony; receiving a stolen firearm; possession of a controlled substance in tier 5 quantity; two counts of manufacture, deliver, or possesses with intent to manufacture, deliver a controlled substance; possession of a controlled substance; possession of drug paraphernalia non-marijuana related; possession of drug paraphernalia marijuana related; and possess/consume marijuana personal use quantity 21 or older. She was being held at Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution near New Castle in lieu of $73,102 cash bond.
Shawn Jones, 43; Michelle Jones, 43; Aaron Tidwell, 27; and Erik Roberts, 31, all of Smyrna, were each charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. They were each issued a criminal summons ordering them to appear in court at a later date and were released from custody.
