CAMDEN, DELAWARE (9/18/2016) A 53-year-old man and his 5-year-old son were critically injured in a single-vehicle crash west of Camden on Saturday night, Delaware State Police said this morning.

The crash happened about 8 p.m. on Oak Point School Road.

Mark T. Long, of Camden, was northbound approaching Jebb Road when he failed to negotiate a moderate left curve and his 2002 Lexus RX 300 started to spin around, police said.

The right tires dug into the roadway, causing the SUV to roll over and eject Long and his 5-year-old son. Police said they were not wearing seat belts.

The car went off the west side of the road and landed on its roof in a yard.

Long was taken by ambulance to Bayhealth Kent General Hospital in Dover.

His son was taken by state police helicopter to Nemours/A.I. DuPont Hospital for Children in Rockland.

Police said speed was a factor in the crash.

Oak Point School Road was closed about three hours as police investigated.
