Woman’s death after Go Ape! zip line fall ruled accidental

KIRKWOOD, DELAWARE (8/25/2016) A 59-year-old woman who died after falling on the Go Ape! Tree Top Adventure Course at Lums Pond State Park was standing on a platform 35 feet above ground waiting to descend on a zip line when she fell, Delaware State Police said this morning.

An autopsy conducted by the Division of Forensic Science found Tina Werner, of Felton, died of multiple blunt force trauma as a result of an accident.

The incident happened about 2:35 p.m. Wednesday at the park at 1068 Howell School Road.

Go Ape! employees and park rangers administered first aid to Werner, who was then treated by New Castle County paramedics and taken by ambulance to Christiana Hospital. She was pronounced dead at the hospital.
